Miata Beysolow


Miata Beysolow served as the Minister of Commerce and Industry in Liberia from 2008 to 2013, where she provided strategic policy frameworks and reforms that resulted in Liberia being recognized as one of the top 10 reforming economies in a survey by the World Bank and spearheaded the dialogue that would eventually lead to Liberia’s accession to the WTO in 2015. Prior to her appointment as Minister, Mrs. Beysolow worked with H&R Block, and was Manager of Business Development at Kormah Development and Investment Corporation in Cote d’Ivoire. She spent 16 years in various positions at the African Development Bank including work overseeing ADB disbursement to Southern Africa and serving as Principal Financial Analyst in the Agricultural Division. She began her professional work in 1973 as an Investment Officer, in the Bond Investment Department at Equitable Life Insurance Company, New York City immediately after graduation from Columbia University. She was Awarded Outstanding Performance in 1975.  She resigned that same year to return to Liberia and begin work as Advisor on Banking Matters to the Minister of Finance and later developed and served in the newly created position of Coordinator for Fiscal Policy and Planning at the Ministry.

Ms. Beysolow serves as the Chair of the Board of Directors for the National Social Security and Welfare Cooperation of the Liberia, and is an Alternate Executive Director of the African Development Bank. She is also an advisor to the Liberia Economic Impact Fund, a $50 million private equity fund that is being established by Pan African Capital Group that aims to spur sustainable economic growth in Liberia following the Ebola virus crisis.

Ms. Beysolow attended Waterloo Lutheran University in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada where she was awarded a Bachelor of Art degree in Political Science and Philosophy.  She later obtained her Masters in International Affairs majoringin International Banking and Finance from Columbia University, United States of America.
